Survey: USB interface cable for SHARP PC-E220

Hello SHARP fans,

on The Sharp PC-E220 home page can be read that the 11-pin I / O connector also has the serial signal lines RXD, TXD, RTS and CTS.

This would probably be another candidate for a low-priced USB interface cable (comparable as my USB Interface Cable for Sharp PC-E500S / E500S).

What do you think?

but with all these different connectors would it be possible to have adapters and a single 'active heart' pumping bytes around for many models ?

Adapters would be low cost or even able to be built by normal people.
Is this just plain silly ?

yes your interface is absolutely capable of handling a PC-E220. I've already done this with "flying wire" using a FTDI cable.

Well, i don't know anything about the PC-G series.
All i know is that this kind of cable (now available for a few euros on ebay) can convert any serial TTL signals to USB. So any device (whatever it was) that used a serial TTL signal can now be interfaced with a USB, the main problem is to get the right connector !

yes, you are right. I use the cheapest FTDI cable you can get on ebay (ca. 7,- EUR). But you need not only the right connector, you also need a circuit board - and this is the biggest problem for someone who has no experience with electronics.

And even for electronics it is not worth to produce a single unit because of minimum order quantity and shipping charges. I'm able to get this components together for ca. 3,- EUR.

And since I configure the whole thing in my precious free time and check on function, I am proud to be able to offer the combined 19.90 EUR.

I agree : once you have the cable and the connector you need to make a small circuit board and this can be tricky. This is exactly where i'm stucked.
